Hi Daniel,

It is not complicated to deploy and use the web part.

1. Make sure you are farm admin

2. Make sure you're logged in as Farm admin and local admin (if it is Windows 2008 run cmd with elevated privileges)

3. Make sure you configure profile so that users can have access to the profile information

The only way I was able to get this to deploy was to go into the GUI and deploy it from Central Administration, still getting an empty web part though.

Can you try to deploy it to a particular site through Central Admin? Check out Solution Management in the Operations tab.

Hey Rodney,

I have checked all of the following, I have all the information filled in Full Name, Last Name ect... I did check the source and successfully found the 'myTreecontainer' div. do you think it is still a time out issue, this link: http://wss.collutions.com/Lists/FAQ/DispForm.aspx?ID=224 is not a valid link anymore, can you provide a working link or any additional suggestions, I can provide more detail if need just don't know what might help resolve this.

The user is not added to the chart if its full name is empty or its last name is empty to avoid adding service accounts. You may be experiencing time-out or any other related error. After loading the page, look the source code in html and see if you can find 'myTreeContainer'. If you van't you may have a problem of time-out. See this article:

I finally got it deployed and into SharePoint as a web part but I am having the same issue here, nothing is displayed in the web part, its empty.......any suggestions or solutions for this?

When I try that I get this now:

This solution contains resources scoped for a Web application and must be deployed to one or more Web applications.

Hey,

This looks like a great webpart, but I cant get it to work!!! :(

I am trying to install in a test enviroment with only 15 users, when I try installing the Web Part I get the following error on the deploysolution command, please help!!

Syntax error in argument: name.

Hey,

This looks like a great webpart, but I cant get it to work!!! :(

Woody has been discussing this improvements with me. I plan to include him in the project and I will also update my post in MSDN. He is MVP (which is sort of Microsoft Ambassador). This is not my full blessing yet, but I am working on it.

Hi everyone!

I've posted an article about enhancing this web part on my blog:

The article includes an updated code file (which I've also posted here), which gives you some significant performance enhancement, as well as additional features. With the updated part you can:

Display the embedded sample data
Control the orientation of the chart
Control how many levels are rendered
Set a starting node
Reset the starting node from a URL/querystring parameter.

I also do a little bullet-proofing (e.g. watch for and escape apostrophe's in the display strings)

I have installed the web part as instructed without any trouble. However, I cannot get it to display on a web page. I get the "An unexpected error has occurred. " message. When I go tot the web parts maintenance page and delete the org chart, the page displays again. My system is based on Windows Server Standard 64 bit edition with MOSS 2007 Enterprise. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Hi Gornati,

This project is a proof-of-concept and will not be continued. The source code is available and license is granted for further modifications. It is possible to create filters, however the idea of using OU is not of much use in this case as data is pulled from profile rather than Active Directory, the concept is valid though and it can be implemented easily.
